I always think of Carlson Builders when we have a need to repair or restore our buildings.  Carson Builders has always done very professional jobs for us at a reasonable price.  We have our own maintenance people but we still call on Carlson Builders for the real tough projects.

Because of this, they have developed an honest, diligent, prompt team. Equally important is the fact that they stand behind the work that they do. Yes, I would use Carlson Builders again and would recommend them to anyone looking for a quality builder.

Carlson Builders, and John Carlson, did a major renovation for us a few years ago after we bought a home that had been neglected for a couple of decades.  The renovation took more than four months (that much work to be done!) and included a complete redo on the kitchen and family room, including major changes to the internal ceiling structure in the entry, hall, and family room.  Our reaction to the whole effort can be quickly summarized in a few bullet points:

• John and his associates did most of the work for major design changes needed to modernize the home.  Their skills at designing major changes to incorporate visually appealing and useful changes, both inside and out, were extraordinarily helpful.  Their tolerance for questions and changes to designs reduced the need for making changes when the work was underway, or worse yet, after the work was completed. 
• Essentially the same crew worked on the job from start to finish.  All were experienced carpenters, and some had an artist’s flare for supplying just the right perspective on the wood/timber features of the home.  All employees were courteous, and showed up every day.  All construction and finish work was performed by CB mostly without outside contractors.
• John was attentive to the job and its completion. He was there on a daily basis checking with us, his crew, and the sub-contractors for plumbing, electrical, and stone work.
• CB’s used sub-contractors that they knew and had worked with them numerous times on past jobs.  Most of them we still use for our daily plumbing or electrical problems.

In sum, we had a major construction challenge that turned into a beautiful home.  John and his crew had a major role to play in that process.

Carlson Builders did a small addition/remodel on our 1924 Craftsman home during the spring of 2010.All the workers were professional and were very helpful with any questions or decision we needed to make. The project went smoothly from design to completion. All work was of high quality with particular attention to architectural-period details. The project was completed under budget and on time. The construction site was always neat and clean and the project was done with minimal inconvenience to us.

In 2007 Carlson Builders, Inc. built a large double garage, with an apartment on the second floor, for my wife and me. I was impressed with the workmanship of Carlson Builders and the sub contractors they used. I appreciated the ongoing communication during construction. The building is now five years old and is serving us very well thanks to the quality work performed by Carlson Builders. I do not hesitate to recommend them to anyone seeking quality construction from a firm that is pleasant to work with.
